June 1 is a specific day. It is official Children's Day. In this particular day most of government and private institutions remember that children are the flowers of life, and they are actively engaged in "watering" and "nourishing" these flowers. And thanks God for that!
And also in this day it’s common to organize different street activities, competitions, marathons ... - all as a special gesture of love and care for kids. There are also people who show their care and love all year round, and on June 1, in words and deeds, they urge others to do so.
Thus, on the Obolon quay in Kiev the volunteers of KJMC movement "A House for a Cup of Coffee" had urged to dedicate this summer day to children. In particular to the ones, who live together with their mothers in "Standing point" rehab center for ex-addict mothers with children. In order to help kids and their mothers to buy a house where they can peacefully live, work and be strengthened in the way of a return to a healthy life, people were offered to donate 20 grivnas - the amount of a cup of coffee.
"Our goal is to engage new people to the cause of charity - building a rehab center for women with children (drug and alcohol addicts who are in difficult circumstances). At present, the center is functioning in a rented house. Since 2009 the rehab center has supported more than 160 women and 35 children - shared activist and KJMC minister Marina Medvedva. - In May of 2013, we have started a fundraising to buy a house for the rehab center. This is how the action "House for a Cup of Coffee" was born. In order to raise the necessary funds, we regularly organize a variety of social events.
By the way, the rehab center even already has its own donated territory - 10 decares of land in Vasilkov, Kiev region. This summer, we plan to begin construction of the house. Actually as of today we have collected about 10% of the amount needed for construction: with help of thousands of caring people - believers and nonbelievers from different countries. We sincerely thank those who have already made their "coffee" contribution into the lives of our mothers and children, and all those who just joined the action! Thank you!"
More than 20 volunteers distributed information flyers of "House for a Cup of Coffee." They also gave positive emotions and treated the contributors with fragrant coffee. And the beverage was provided on a charitable basis by Coffeeroyal company to promenading up and down the quay kievans. In general, people enthusiastically responded to a call for help and, when possible, participated in the action.
This summer the "House for a Cup of Coffee" will hold a few more street events. The closest one is scheduled on July 6
