When an olive is crushed it produces the oil. This is what happens in our lives. God's light, His fire and His help (and sometimes He Himself) come into our life when we are under pressure from circumstances of life when it is hard.
2Cor 4:7-12,16-18: "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you… Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
Eph 3:20-21: "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen."
We see something similar in the story of Hanukkah - God revealed His power, His light, His victory in a difficult time for Israel.
So, in order to the light of the Messiah and His fire to flame up in us, it is important to:
- Understand, that Yeshua is Light and He is in us. This Light enlightens us, as the believers, and It also enlightens people around us. We need to trust God in everything and share this Light with people around us.
- Deny yourself for God's sake. The great deliverance of Israel, the spiritual revolution began when a family of priests decided it was better to die than to endure what was happening to their people. Maccabees were ready to die in the name of God, for the sake of their people.
- Remember: no matter what happens around you, no matter how hard the enemy is pressed, the God of Israel is faithful, He will never leave His children! Even if it feels that we have been abandoned, this all has been done for us to break away from our problems, to lift up our eyes on high, look down and behold to realize that the problem has already been solved by God Almighty.
- Realize, that we can do nothing without Him. To take these testimonies and embed them in our hearts by faith. To continue to serve the Lord, despite everything, and expect God's victory, for God is faithful!
