We have been often asked in IHOPKC (The International House of Prayer of Kansas City) what the Holy Spirit is doing in the world today? Of course, He does a lot of things. The development and reinforcement of a prayer movement, worship that would exalt the name of Yeshua the Messiah is very important for Him. The development of the missionary movement is equally important to Him. But there is something utterly important for the Holy Spirit, for the Father God.
We believe God that wants to make a top priority for the Church - restoration of the first commandment: "Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment.’" (Mark 12:29-20, NKJV)
The highest priority, the cornerstone of all our life is to love God with all your heart! It is significant for us to build up our life in relation to this commandment. The worship, intercession, missionary work and even our physical health result from this particular love! God opens his heart towards us and He wants us to have the same attitude.
Today's Christianity very often is being presented as the Moral Law, as a set of rules and regulations to be followed. People experience salvation, His blood washes them from their sins and they receive the forgiveness. But afterward, they just try to live the best possible life.
In IHOPKC we can see two main extremes in the life of the Church:
- Believers try to live their own lives which inevitably leads them to defeat and alienation;
- Believers agree to live a compromised life with the world; "they don't have to worry about anything because God's grace is enough".
Both are not the way God wants us to go! Today He acts with His Spirit to awaken the Church, so that it may love God with all its heart! We have been already invited to have a deep and close love relationship with God!
It is very important to understand that we cannot love Him more than our own understanding of how much He loves us. We need His help. We need to ask Him: "God, show me how much you love me!"
There are many amazing passages in the Scripture revealing God's love. But there is the one that is really touching my heart: "I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me." (John 17:23, NKJV). Do you understand what he is saying here? The same love that the Father experience to Yeshua is the same love He experiences for me and for you! It is hard to believe how much God loves us!
His heart has a profound respect for us. Joy and love for us! God appreciates us even knowing all our thoughts and what is in our hearts. We need to realize and accept this fact in its fullness. We will not be able to incline our heart to God until we understand how much His heart is inclined to us.
Sometimes we try to find this love, satisfaction, and delight in other places. But God wants us to find all these things only in Him. He calls us to cry unto Him, to incline our heart to Him, to seek and wait for Him. We need to ask Him for help in experiencing His love and accepting the revelation of security, safety, and infinity of His love.
