We always have a choice. No matter how difficult the circumstances that we may be going through, no matter what the problem we are facing with and even if we feel strong pressure from within - we still have a choice by God's mercy.
God created us as free personalities. God’s aim is to free all who is a slave of sin. For this reason, they are slaves of their own flesh, slaves of others, slaves of the world, devil and demons and slaves of circumstances.
God's aim is to liberate everyone from ungodly types of slavery, so that everyone may have a choice of freedom and use it as a liberated son or daughter of God.
The enemy has an opposite aim - he by all forces tries to enslave us and to deprive us of the right to choose. But all the unpossessed HAVE the freedom of choice in a variety of situations. Often, it's merely hard to make the right choice, by the will of God, but you can always make it.
Even if it seems to us that we no longer have a choice, we can do nothing - there is still a choice. God is next to you in any situation and if you call to him, know that He has already made you able to make a choice in a dead-end situation.
The Gospel of John says:
"He who believes on Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who practices truth comes to the Light so that his works may be revealed, that they exist, having been worked in God."
(MKJV, John. 3:18-21)
It says that even unbelievers love the light to some extent. They just love darkness more. And even unbelievers have a choice.
"For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, lest his deeds should be exposed." - now it says about those who hate the light and constantly do evil deeds. And not just they do not go to the light without thought, it is not just that they do not like the light, but hate it because they know - if they approach the light and open up to the Divine light - this light will rebuke their evil doings which they do not want to leave.
This light will come into the wickedness of a man’s doing and so long as such a man associates himself with evil deeds inside and outside and does not want to get rid of them, the light will hurt him, will spoil his mood and torment his conscience... Who wants it? Why does he need it? If such a man made the choice to live this way and he is thinking that the evil serves him and his evil and sinful thoughts, feelings, intentions, relationships, and attitudes are his slaves for getting money, power, pleasure, fame and so on... Indeed, he won't want the Divine light to come into these doings, to rebuke him, to hurt him because he does not want to send the evil away from his soul and life.
Choice! Choice!
"But he who practices truth comes to the Light so that his works may be revealed, that they exist, having been worked in God." - there is another choice, that makes sense to us.
There is always a choice. And if we live, like, by the inertia, it only means that we make a choice not to change our lives.
